After the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center tragedy, I joined with a
group of fellow printmakers in producing a portfolio of memorial prints to be exhibited and sold as a fund raiser for the 9/11 firefighter's relief fund. This portfolio was exhibited in various venues around the country and raised well over $2000. The New York City Public Library requested a complete set of the prints for their permanent print collection, where it is now housed. My contribution to this effort was the serigraph, "A Different Breed." Subsequently, I created a couple of smaller works related to that print: Nine-eleven,
State I and State II. I also took the images and text I used in these works and created a small (5.5 x 3.5) artist's book. Most of these works are still available for sale with half of the purchase price going to continuing firefighter relief funds. |
