I've wanted to fence for a long, long time, but I wasn't sure how to get started. I kept thinking that our local community college would offer a fencing class - and each semester I would check the schedule, to no avail. Finally, almost four years ago, I typed "santa cruz fencing" into a search engine, and I was surprised to see that we had a fencing club. I contacted them, and about three months later I found myself at a beginning fencing class. I've never really left.
I fence three times a week, and occasionally a fourth time when there's a local tournament.
The picture on the left is my first foil tournament. The picture on the right is three years later, fencing epee against a taller opponent (just because they're taller doesn't mean they necessarily win - my blade is just as long as his).
